Afropop has evolved over the years with different artistes
trying to add their own flavour to the genre of music which was
originated from the west to Africa.
African artistes have proved to be very creative by infusing some
African instruments, percussion and sound into the music to give it that
unique African feel that stands out from the western pop music.
Kiss Daniel is a successful Afropop artiste whose
blend of rich African sound incorporated in his music has helped carve a
niche for him as Nigeria’s most promising Afropop artiste. His music
focuses more on love and his vocal prowess is second to none. No wonder
his mentor is Africa’s King of Afropop, 2face Idibia.
His ability to release hit songs steadily and with an album “New Era” that is still trending, has been able to place him as a contender for best Afropop artiste in Nigeria, 2016.
Reekado Banks rise from just an average artiste to
become a super star is credited to the music genius, Don Jazzy. Ever
since he got signed to Marvin Records he has been very impressive with
his delivery.
He is the man behind the Dorobucci song that was the biggest song for
2014 and his solo songs have all topped major chats. Reekado Banks
music is similar to what Wizkid does which is Afropop but with the help
of Don Jazzy he has been able to standout with his music.
He won the Next Rated Award at Headies beating Lil Kesh and Kiss Daniel to it. His debut album “Spotlight” has proved why he is dubbed a contender to King of Afropop, 2016.
YAGI boss, Lil Kesh is the definition of total
package. From the street of Bariga, Olamide discovered him and gave him a
chance to prove his worth. He took the opportunity and flew with it and
today he is one of Nigeria’s biggest artiste.
His dexterity to switch from rap to singing is a plus for him because
it makes him very flexible to switch styles to the benefit of his fans.
From day one Lil Kesh has not disappointed his fans as he keeps
churning out hits back to back.
His debut album “YAGI”
proved that he has a bright future ahead of him. Lil Kesh whose style
is a blend of Afropop and Hiphop is also a very strong contender for
King of Afropop in Nigeria, 2016.
The trio are all successful Afropop artistes who have done very well
for themselves within a short span. They all have a lot of things in
common like they are all in the same age-grade, released their debut
album this year and they all success artistes.
